John Ford, Jr.

Worked at former Daniels Printing Co.

John F. Ford Jr. of Everett died October 2 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 54 years old.

A US Navy Vietnam veteran, he served aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz as a 2nd class Ordinance man. He also worked for 25 years at the former Daniels Printing Company in Malden as a lead pressman.

He was the beloved son Marion J. (Joslin) Ford and the late John F. Ford Sr.; the brother of Theresa Parella and her husband, Richard of Melrose, Marion Iandolo of Winthrop and the late Lt. Roger A. Ford, Massachusetts State Police (Ret.) He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two aunts, Norah Ford and Mary McCormick of Medford.

A period of visiting will be held on Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, 519 Broadway, Everett followed by a graveside service at Puritan Lawn Cemetery Peabody at 12 noon.

Norinne Maloney

Educator

Norinne M. (Treanor) Maloney of North Reading died on September 30.

Mrs. Maloney taught for 24 years in the North Reading School system and in various other school systems.

She was the beloved wife of James Maloney; mother of James Maloney and his wife, Donna of North Reading, Christopher of Beverly and Anne Maloney and Brett Maloney, both of North Reading; daughter of the late Eugene and Florence Treanor; grandmother of Kelly, Laura, James and Daniel; great grandmother of Karissa, Matthew, Lucy and Casey; sister of Eugene Treanor and his wife, Karen of Australia and the late James Treanor and Patricia Holt; sister-in-law of Patricia Treanor and Bill Holt.

Her Funeral will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park Street and Rte. 28), North Reading at the Reading line today, Wednesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading at 11a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading. Anthony Violanto

Rocky Marciano’s Sparring Partner

Anthony P. Violanto died at his son’s home in Sharon on September 25 after a period of failing health. He was 85 years old.

Born in Boston, and a US Navy veteran of World War II, he had been retired for 20 years as a toll collector for the Mass Turnpike. In his younger days, he was a sparring partner for Rocky Marciano.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Mello) and the loving father of Robert and his wife, Judy of Sharon, Rhonda and her husband, Dennis Gibson of Brockton, Paul and his wife, Lori of Methuen, Alisa and her late husband, Phillip Thomas of Everett, James and his wife, Joyce of Malden. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services with the Reverend David Meskill officiating were held from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, Everett. Burial with full military honors was at The National Cemetery in Bourne.

L. David “Dave” Derby

Contractor

L. David “Dave” Derby of Salem, NH died on September 28 in his companion’s home in Everett. He was 65 years old.

Born in Revere, he had lived in Salem, New Hampshire and was a contractor by trade.

He was the son of the late Walter Derby and Ethel Greer, the beloved companion of Mary Ann Foti of Everett, father of David, Tammy and Rachel and step-father of Michael Salvaggi and brother of Walter, Raymond and the late Arthur Derby.

William Pace

Formerly worked at Market Forge in Everett

William A. Pace died on September 21 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico after a long illness.

Formerly employed at Market Forge in Everett, he was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis and Helen Pace; devoted father of William G. Pace and his wife, Joann of Everett, He also leaves his granddaughter, Lilla (Pace) Hiltz and her husband, Brian of Dracut and his great grandchildren Madyson, Braedyn, Brandon and the late Brian Hiltz and a very dear friend, Glyndolyn Starr.

Inurnment was at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery in Truth or Consequences, NM.

Edward Beechin

Of Revere, formerly of Everett

Edward M. Beechin of Revere, formerly of Malden and Everett, died on September 28.

He was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia (Costa); devoted father of Cheri Harris and her husband, Richard of Revere, Scott Beechin and his wife, Christine of Malden, Rhonda Papa of Florida, Patty Natarelli and her husband, Michael of Weymouth, Michelle Harris and her husband, Rob of Florida and the late Jamie Papa; dear brother of James Beechin of California, Debra Morabito of Lynn and the late Judy Gagnon. He is also survived by 15 loving grandchildren and five loving great grandchildren.

Andrew ‘Zeke’ Guarino, Jr.

Andrew “Zeke” Guarino, Jr., of Everett died on September 29.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Gianatassio); loving father of Andrew Guarino III and his wife, Carol of Reading and Richard Guarino and his wife, June of Winthrop; beloved brother of Eddie Guarino of Everett and Helen Scotti of Wilmington. He is also survived by six loving grandchildren, Katie, Drew, Matt and Toby, Luke and Zach and one great grandson, Giancarlo, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Donald Williams

Wareham resident

Donald J. Williams of Wareham died September 29 while surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old.

Born in Chelsea, the husband of Doris E. (Hatch) Williams and the son of the late Donald and Olga (Dentone) Williams, he lived in Sandwich and Plymouth before moving to Wareham in 2002. Mr. Williams graduated from Everett High School where he played on the football team and served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

Mr. Williams worked for Boston Edison for 30 years retiring as a Watch Engineer at Pilgrim Station in 1999. He then worked for Veolia Energy of New Bedford for the past nine years. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who enjoyed his yearly trips to Aruba with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher J. Williams of Wareham and David A. Williams of Yarmouth; a daughter, Noel Williams of Hyannis; a step-daughter, Elizabeth E. Leblanc of East Wareham; a brother, Thomas Williams of Winchendon; a sister, Susan Williams of Barnegat, NJ and four grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of the late John A,; mother of Joni Hamel and her husband, John of Haverhill, John A. Jr. and his wife, Laurie of Tewksbury, and Janice Ciulla and her husband, Tom of West Peabody; sister of Rose Ricciardi, Carmella Marchant, both of Everett, and the late Teresa Wholley. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Stephen, Danielle, Ashley, Johnny, Anthony, Francesca, Tommy, Genaro and Bella, and one great grandson, Angelo Giovanni.

Shirley A. (Coiley) Travers of Cambridge died on September 24.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph Travers, Sr. of Cambridge; loving mother of Cheryl Bozajian of California and Joseph Travers of Everett; sister of the late John Coiley and Rita Caissie. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Rhonda J. Grace Soledade of Everett died on September 19.

She was the wife of the late John Sousa; mother of Vanessa Grace, Alexander Soledade and Tristen Soledade; sister of Bonnie Vera, Phillip, Gary and Roger Grace; grandmother of Zackery Soledade and lifelong friend of George and Ronnie Kelly.
