Barbara Barber

Longtime Everett Chamber of Commerce Administrative Assistant

Barbara (Bowser) Barber of Everett died suddenly on June 5.

A longtime administrative Assistant for the Everett Chamber of Commerce, she was the beloved wife of the late Gary; mother of Richard Erickson and his wife, Nicola, of Woburn, Scott Erickson and his wife, Jennifer, of New Hampshire and Kristin Erickson and her wife, Kim, of Lynn; sister of Carolyn Faucon of New Hampshire, Phyllis Werner of Dracut and the late John Bowser. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved cat Gonzo.

Rosemary Navarro-Polcari

Died recently

Rosemary (Amodeo) Navarro-Polcari died peacefully on June 2 surrounded by her loving family. She was 98 years old.

Born on August 3, 1912, in Worcester, she is survived by her children: Rosemary (Dee) Flaherty and her husband, Bob, of Chatham, Carole Salines of Burlington and John Navarro and his wife, Susan, of Woburn. She was the beloved sister of the late Geraldine Amodeo, and Estelle Holmes of California and June Marzullo and her husband, Anthony, of Woburn and is also survived by her grandchildren Keith Nashawaty and his wife, Stephanie, of Dedham, Christopher Nashawaty and his wife, Jen, of Norwalk, CT, John Salines and his wife, Regina, of Burlington, Darlene Salines of Billerica, John and Amanda Navarro of Woburn, and her great grandchildren Lauren and Daniela Nashawaty of Dedham.

Julina Laforest

Retired assembler

Julina (William) Laforest, a longtime Everett resident, died on June 4 in the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett. She was 81 years old.

Born in Chardonieres, Haiti, she was a retired assembler for a local doll factory.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ketner; dear and devoted mother of Louis of Chicago, Hervey, Marques, Pierre R. and Evelyne Germain, all of Everett; sister of Closel William and Rosalaine Andrews of Malden, Louisia Pierre Louis of Salem and the late Evana William.  She is also survived by 17 loving grandchildren.

Her Funeral Mass will be in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St., Malden, on Saturday, June 11 at 11:15 a.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home,  65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) Everett will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Richard Belanger

Retired Letter Carrier

Richard E. Belanger of Everett died unexpectedly on May 25. He was 54 years old.

A US Navy veteran, he was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service, Everett Unit at the IMC in Chelsea

He was the beloved father of Krystal of Everett, Mellisa of Lynn, Michelle of Chelsea, Timothy and Thomas,  the son of Richard J. Belanger of Chelsea and the late Mary (McGahan) Belanger; dear brother of John “Jack” Belanger and his wife, Alice, of Everett, Kevin Belanger of Georgia and Diane Androvett of Chelsea; brother-in-law of the late Michael Androvett and is also lovingly survived by two granddaughters, Amelia and Mia.

Funeral arrangements were by the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, Chelsea. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Winnifred Joyce Johnson

Worked at Former Star Market

Winnifred Joyce Johnson of Saugus died on June 2. She was 84 years old.

The wife of the late Carl G. Johnson, she grew up in Everett and was the daughter of the late Laura Vinchesi.  She was a resident of Saugus for 60 years and was a homemaker and a long time employee at the Saugus Star Market.

She is survived by her children, Britt A. Johnson of Everett, Paula E. Johnson and her husband, Kevin Laterza, of Lynn and Diane L. Johnson and her husband Grant Strathdee of New Durham, NH, and her grandchildren, Erika Johnson, Carl Johnson and Carly Strathdee.

Private family services were held with arrangements entrusted to the Goodrich Funeral Home, Lynn.

Retired Assembler for Arrow International

Elizabeth C. (Giarla) Shea of Everett died on June 4 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was 77 years old.

Born in Everett, she was a retired assembler for Arrow International.

She was the beloved wife of the late James E. Shea; dear and devoted mother of Peggy Shea of Everett, Trisha Saunders and her husband, Joe, of Peabody and the late Kathy Kane; loving grandmother of Kelly Gracyalny and her husband, Joey, Candie Couto and her husband, Sean, Bailey Shea, Jessica and Jonathan Saunders and great-grandmother of Emma Gracyalny; devoted aunt of Bobby and Faith Fleming and family of N. Adams.

Grace A. (Schembri) Young of Malden died on May 22.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Giovanni and Francesca (Maggiotta) Schembri; dear and devoted sister of Jean Ciralli of W. Yarmouth and the late Nunzio, Salvatore, and Joseph Schembri, Mary Matteucci and Betty Siudut. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Alice V. (Dortona) Semonelli of Everett died on May 18.

A retired employee of Converse Rubber in Malden and the Everett School Department, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Semonelli; mother of Richard Reeves and his wife, Ann, of Peabody. She was the sister of five late siblings and is survived by three grandchildren: Rick Reeves and his wife, Marianne, of Peabody, Gary Reeves and his wife, Mindy, of North Andover and Susan Durkin and her husband, Charles, of Peabody, and six loving great grandchildren.

Michael Strianese

Of Tennessee, formerly of Everett

Michael Strianese of Sparta, TN, formerly of Everett, died of lung cancer at his Mom’s home in W. Peabody after a brief illness on May 28.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Beth Strianese of Sparta, TN; loving father of Carlyn Elizabeth and Dylan Sparkman of Sparta, TN.; beloved son of Lois Cinelli and her husband, Anthony “Tony” of W. Peabody and the late Carl Strianese; brother of Richard “Rick” Strianese and his wife, Cathy, of Dracut and beloved step-brother of Scott Cinelli and his wife, Lori, of East Boston, Michael Cinelli and Marianne Wright. He leaves behind his dear friends Edward LeFave and his wife, Tricia, and David Lester. He was the cherished grandson of the late Louis and Gertrude DiSabatino and Amando and Filomena Strianese.

Anthony  Badolato

30-year manager of St. Therese’s Drill Team

Anthony C. Badolato of Everett died at home early Tuesday morning, May 31 surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends.

He was employed by Bethlehem Steel prior to enlisting in the US Army in 1944. As an infantry man, he saw combat in Belgium and Germany as part of the 10th Armoured Infantry Battalion, 4th Armoured Division and on September, 1944 he was captured in Germany and was held as a POW until liberated. Upon returning to the states, he became a U.S. Postal worker until his retirement. He spent his free time with the youth of Everett by managing the St. Therese Drill Team for over 30 years.

He was the beloved husband for more than 63 years of Dorothy May (Rocheville); son of the late Dominic and Anna (Romano) Badolato; dear and devoted father of Lorraine Fortes and her husband, Phil, of Pascoag, RI and Maureen Badolato of Tewksbury; brother of the late Florence Smith; loving Papa of Marshall Jack and his wife, Lindsey, Dylan Jack and John Fortes and loving Great-Papa of Morgan Paige Jack. He is also survived by life-long friends, Peter and Erma Raimondi of Winthrop.

Thomas J. Keefe of Everett died on May 26. He was 91 years old.

He was the son of the late Laurence and Isabella Keefe; beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Guanci); loving and devoted father of Daniel Keefe and his wife, Jeanne, of West Harwich, Patrick Keefe and his wife, Lucille, Terry Wilcox and her husband, David, and Hugo Scarpellini and his wife, Laura, all of Everett; devoted grandfather of 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and loved by many nieces and nephews.
