Grandmother of Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria, Jr.

Nicolina (Cataldo) DiPierro of Everett died on May 5.

The beloved wife of the late Ciriaco, she was the mother of Rosa DeMaria and her husband, Carlo Sr., Angelo DiPierro, and Josephine Massua, all of Everett; mother-in-law of Filomena of Everett and Albert Massua of
New York; sister of the late Alfonso Celata, Carmela Caporale, Ernesto Celata, Pasquale Cataldo, Carlo Cataldo, and Lucia Rizzo and is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, Carmine DeMaria and his wife Christina, Mayor of Everett Carlo DeMaria Jr. and his wife, Stacy, Jerry DiPierro, Nicole DiPierro,
Anthony DiPierro and his wife, Elizabeth, Michael DiPierro, Melissa Massua  and Jacqueline Massua; nine loving great-grandchildren Anthony, Carlo,
Salvatore, Caroline, Chloe, Carmine, Carlo, Alexandra and Ella and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Entombment was at Woodlawn Mausoleum, Everett.

Frances ‘Frannie’ LaFratta

Of Winthrop, formerly of Everett

Frances D. “Frannie” (Rotondo) LaFratta of Winthrop, formerly of Everett, died on May 4.

She was the beloved wife of the late Juliano; mother of Cynthia Palazzolo of Winthrop and was the sister of two late brothers. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Funeral will be held from the Salvatore, Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett today, Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m. A service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited Burial will be Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Vincent ‘Grandpa Jim’ DiLiberto

Everett resident

Vincent J. “Grandpa Jim” DiLiberto of Everett died on May 8.

He was the loving husband of Theresa (Bono), loving father of Terry Onessimo, Maria D’Avolio-Morrell, and the late Anna and Janice DiLiberto. He is survived by his six loving grandchildren, Billy, Anna, Maria, Anna, Nicole and Bobby and seven loving great grandchildren, Danae, Alexa, Danielle, Gianni, Marcello, Michael, and Jason.

His Funeral will be held from the Salvatore Rocco and Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett on Thursday May 12. Sean M. Hickey of Melrose died suddenly on May 5. He was 41 years old.

He was the devoted husband of Deana A. (Rosati) Hickey of Melrose, loving father of Cameron R., Regan C. and Coryn D. Hickey; cherished and loving son of Albert C. and Janice M. (Parella) Hickey, also of Melrose; caring brother of Alyssa C. Pesce and her husband, William, of Melrose; son-in-law of Anna Rosati, brother-in-law of Anthony Rosati and his wife, Tanya, of Winthrop, David Rosati and his wife, Melissa, of N. Reading, Donna Matarazzo and her husband, Matthew, of Revere and Dean Rosati of Boston. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many, many close friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose today, Wednesday, May 11 at 11 a.m. Family, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Edward Cardillo

Life member of Everett BPOE Elks

Edward A. Cardillo, a life long resident of Everett, died unexpectedly on May 7 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.  He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, he was a maintenance manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts retiring after 35 years of service and a Life Member of Everett Lodge BPOE of Elks.

He was the beloved husband of Jeannine L. (Nichols) for over 57 years; dear and devoted father of Dianne Russell of Everett and Lisa J. Cardillo and her longtime companion, Richard Price, of N. Reading; brother of Antonetta Edwards of Everett and the late Walter and Stephen Cardillo, Florence Pini and Blanche Steidl; loving grandfather of Lauren and Leah Russell and great-grandfather of Travis Botte.

His Funeral will be held from the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark St. (Corner of Main Street) Everett today, Wednesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a  Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Broadway, Everett, at  10 a.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Carlo Abbatinozzi

Retired Mass. Social Services Director

Carlo M. Abbatinozzi of Everett died on May 6 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 86 years old.

He was born in Everett and was a member of the E-Club of Everett, a life member of the DAV, a US Marine Corps veteran  and Purple Heart recipient of World War II.  He received a Bachelors Degree from Boston University and was the retired director of Social Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He was the husband of Marie G. (Malta); dear and devoted father of Marie Abbatinozzi of Everett, Michael P.  Abbatinozzi of Atlanta, GA and Joanne M. McCabe and her husband, Joseph, of Saugus; brother of Ugo Abbatinozzi of Malden and the late Guy Abbate; loving grandfather of Joseph, Jeffrey and Jonathan McCabe.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home,  91 Crest Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150, would be sincerely appreciated.

John Haneffant

Past Exalted Ruler Everett BPOE Elks

John A. “Jack” Haneffant of North Andover, formerly of Everett, died on May 6 at Prescott House Nursing Home. He was 83 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II stationed in Japan, he was the 1985 Past Exalted Ruler of the Everett Lodge of Elks 642 and retired from the MBTA Boston Carmen’s Union, Local 589.

He was born and raised in Everett, the son of the late Patrick and Ellen (Murphy) Haneffant. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen (Whalen) Haneffant and his children Mary Ellen Boretti and her husband, Ronald of Weymouth, Susan Haneffant and her long-time companion, Michael Kingston of Andover, John Haneffant and his wife, Erin of Boston, Jean Albano of Carlisle, and William Haneffant and his wife, Lori of Tewksbury. He was the proud and devoted Grandpa of Kathryn McNamara and her husband, Jason, Ron and John Boretti, and Drew Albano; the brother of the late Edward, William, and Patricia Muller and is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Charles P. Guglietta of Everett died on May 6.

He was the beloved companion of Rose Strianese; loving father of Mark C. and his wife, Lisa, of Stoneham, Kerry M. Flaherty and her husband, Brian, of Beverly and Eric C. of Lynn; beloved brother of Grace, Tina and Madeline and is also survived by his two loving grandchildren, Talia and Mark A.

Minnie A. (Deyeso) Lombardo died at her Everett home on May 4. She was 83 years old.

She was born in Everett, went to Everett Schools, and has lived in Everett for the past 25 years. She is a retiree of the Piantedosi Baking Co., Malden.

The wife of the late Rocco D. “Rocky,” she was the mother of Linda A. Lindvall and her husband, Tom, of Bristol, RI, Donna M. of Woburn, and Michael of Lynn and is also survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Jennifer L. Lindvall and is also survived by her brother Albert Deyeso and sisters Anna Pereira, Mary Sartori, Sena Duff and Bernadette Bono.

Millie Lunde of Everett died on May 3.

A Nurse Assistant at Whidden Memorial Hospital, she was the wife of the late William Lunde, Sr.; mother of two stepchildren, Robert M. Lunde of Bridgewater and Constance Jones of Nashua, NH; the daughter of Alvin and Jarilla Smith of Vermont and is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Azio F. Commito of Everett, a veteran of World War II, died peacefully in Topsfield on April 30. He was 84 years old.

He was the loving father of Joy, Michael and Paul; and grandfather of Derek, Troy, Alexandra, and Alexander. He was the brother of the late Ado and is survived by his brother Elio and sisters Elsa and Mary.

Anna Mae (Thompson) Delano died on April 10. She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her faithful husband of 59 years Francis X.; her loving children, David, Catherine, Marianne, and the late Richard; seven wonderful grandchildren and 16 wonderful great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic and loving mother of Linda Stratton and her husband, Richard, of North Reading, Celeste Dascoli and her husband, Ernie, of Andover, and the late Nancy Tino; sister of Mary Covino, Louis Cecere, and the late Helen Ciampollilo, William, Alfred, Albert, and John; grandmother of Leah Grenier, Richard Stratton Jr, Ernie Jr, Justin and Derek Dascoli and great grandmother of Andree, Christian, Keira, Hanae and Shayne.

Michael J. MacSweeney of Everett, formerly of Somerville, died on May 4. He was 55 years old.

He was the beloved son of Marie (O’Leary) and the late Mortimer MacSweeney; loving companion of Annette Devino; brother of Deborah Sullivan of Medford, James and his wife, Judith MacSweeney, of Canton, Robert and his wife, Pamela MacSweeney, of Wilmington, Laura and her husband, William McDonough, and Mark MacSweeney of Medford. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and Annette’s son and daughter, Fred and Laurie. He was the brother-in-law of the late John Sullivan.

An employee of Comcast in Manchester, NH, she was the wife of the late Craig A. Brigham; daughter of Jacquelyn M. (Goodwin) Maloney of Everett and the late Thomas A. Thomas Skiffington

Thomas M. Skiffington died at his Everett home on May 1. He was 50 years old.

He was born in Chelsea on May 29, 1960 to his parents, Thomas and Catherine (Perry) Skiffington. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a deep love of music. He enjoyed all the old time television classics, loved going on bus rides and eating at restaurants. He attended the day program at Shore Collaborative in Chelsea and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his brothers, Richard and his wife, Charlotte, and Steven and wife, Lisa, all of North Reading, Robert and his wife, Francine, of Alexandria, NH, and by his sister, Diane, of Everett. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Katherine, Steven, Victoria, Elizabeth, and Nathan.

Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
