The Air Cargo Club of New England (ACCNE), a non profit organization founded in 1965 by industry professionals in the various fields of Cargo held its 5th Annual International Trade Night on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Four Points Sheraton in Revere, MA.  Michelle DeFronzo, the recently appointed ACCNE President and owner of IMEX Cargo in Boston invited State Senator Sal DiDomenico to attend the function as guest speaker covering topics of interest to the community including the Alford & Chelsea Street Bridge repairs, his stand on the bill for several local casinos in the area as well as the recent growth and revenue of several airlines serving Boston Logan Airport including JetBlue, Delta and Southwest.

DeFronzo said Senator DiDomenico has consistently shown a dedication to his community and public service. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Everett Democratic City Committee and Vice Chair of the Ward 3 Democratic City Committee. He has been a member and President of numerous cultural and civic organizations throughout the district and has a unique understanding of issues and concerns that are important to the ACCNE locally, she added.

DeFronzo said the ACCNE over the past four decades has held successful coat drives, donated food and money to many local and non local charities including:  Piers Park, YWCA, Brothers Kitchen, Little Home for Wanderers and Susan G. Komen for the Cure to name a few.

This year in addition to the charities the ACCNE continues to support, DeFronzo said, the organization is dedicated to serving the local community and industry professionals as it relates to cargo and is looking forward to making positive changes and giving back locally to its members, community and supporters of the organization.

Two important issues DeFronzo is committed to achieving this term are helping employers/ employees connect with local talented individuals who may have been affected by job loss during the recent global economic downturn by providing a job posting/ job search on its newly revamped website at www.aircargoclubne.com.

DeFronzo also launched a brand new college scholarship fund for members/ members employees affording them the opportunity to be one of three lucky participants each year in June to receive college scholarship monies, a brand new tradition started this year she hopes will continually grow.

Also included in the lineup of guest speakers was Safran Morpho Detection, a leader in the security market. Officials from Safran brought a scanning device used for demonstration purposes as Morpho’s field proven explosives, narcotics and chemical detection systems are used to help safeguard people and high-risk targets including air and ground transportation, government and military facilities and other critical infrastructure.
