Peter Dolan

Father of Melrose Mayor

Peter J. Dolan of Melrose, formerly of Everett, died peacefully at home on May 19.

He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (MacLaughlin) Dolan; loving father of the Honorable Robert J. Dolan, Mayor of the City of Melrose, and his wife, Alison, Dr. Sara Looby and her husband, Greg, of Newton, and Amy Sestito and her husband, Anthony, of Melrose; devoted grandfather of Ryan and Kiley Dolan, Brendan Sestito and Peter Looby; brother of John E. Dolan and his wife, Dorothy, of Chelsea, and cherished friend to many.

Robert Kenneth Miller

City of Boston employee, Member of Toastmasters

Robert Kenneth Miller, a 27 year resident of Weymouth, formerly of Revere, died on May 20 at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 67 years old.

Born in Winthrop, he was raised in Revere, educated in the Revere schools and was a graduate of Revere High School. He was also a graduate of Burdett College and a long time employee of the City of Boston. He was a member of Congregation Sha’Aray Shalom of Hingham and a long time member of the Toastmaster Organization. He also enjoyed storytelling, country music, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his beloved cat “Muffin”.

The beloved husband of Naomi (Fogel) Miller, he was the devoted stepfather of Nancy Miller and her husband, Paul, and David Wolfson and his fiancé, Sarah Snell; the loving son of Morris and Ida Miller; the dear brother of Diane Freedman and her husband, Alan, and Tomas Miller and his wife, Barbara; loving grandfather of Marc Miller. He was the devoted uncle of Sheri Freedman, Elizabeth Miller and Matthew Miller. He is also survived by his beloved cat “Muffin”.

Alicia Bonet

Cambridge resident

Alicia Bonet of Cambridge died on May 22. She was 89 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Miguel Bonet; devoted mother of Michael Bonet of Malden and Alice Munafo of Everett; sister of Julia; loving grandmother of Michael, Giancarlo, Marissa, Gabrielle and Stephen.

Elaine Maguire-Kennedy

Of Marshfield, formerly of East Boston

Elaine M. (Dorgan) Maguire-Kennedy of Marshfield, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 20 at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 76 years old.

Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Florence P. (Pecora) and James Dorgan. Prior to her retirement she was an Administrative Clerk for the United States Post Office.

She was the devoted wife of the late Peter Maguire and loving wife of Eugene Kennedy of Everett; loving mother of Kathleen Jackson and her husband, Ray, of Andover, Noreen Gunther of Winthrop and Patricia Maguire-Feeney and her husband, Bernard, of Connecticut; sister of Dianna Anderson and her husband, Jack, of Winthrop, James M. Dorgan and his wife, Joanne, of Boyton Beach, FL and sister in law of Joanne Dorgan of Saugus; beloved grandmother of Caitlin and Thomas Jackson, Melanie Metcalf, Jillian Gunther, Peter McCloud, Meghan, Peter and Erin Feeney. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Supported by her loving family, she will be missed dearly as the beloved “Pearl”.

Philippe ‘Uncle Phil’ Dion

One of the Founding Members of Franco-American Social Club of Everett

Philippe E. “Uncle Phil” Dion, a long time resident of Groveland, died at home May 19. He was 95 years old.

Born in Malden, he grew up in the Malden/Everett area. He was one of the founding members of the Franco American Social Club of Everett and a life long parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Everett. He worked at The Charleston Navy Yard as the supervisor of the planning department until his retirement. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of Assumption College, Class of 1933, which was the first graduating class of the college.

He was the son of the late Eugene and Yvonne (Jodoin); dear uncle of Frank Souza, who was his uncle’s caregiver, and John Souza. He was the cousin of the late Evelyn Smith, Larine Turner, and Dorothy and Tom Hughes.

His Funeral will be held from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, 519 Broadway, Everett today, Wednesday, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Hearts Church, Malden Square, at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

 

Mark Shannon

Of Plymouth, formerly of Everett

Mark P. Shannon of Plymouth, a former long time resident of Everett, died at home on May 11. He was 52 years old.

Born in Boston, he worked as a tree arborist.

He was the beloved father of Patrick Finnerty Shannon of Ireland; brother of Paul Shannon of Vermont, Thomas Shannon of Southbridge, Beth Dennis of Newton, Susan and Joy Shannon of Hudson, NH and Nancy Jones of New Hampshire; dear friend of John Pellegrini of Malden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Mary B. Finnerty of Ireland.

Mary Bucci

Of Saugus, formerly of Everett

Mary A. Bucci of Saugus, formerly of Everett, died suddenly on April 27.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Maddalena (Carullo) and Vincent Bucci; loving sister of Linda P. Soave (Bucci) and her husband, Tony, of Waltham. She is survived by her uncle Ralph Carullo, a cousin Nick Carullo and many loving dear cousins and friends.

Her Funeral will be held from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett, on Saturday May 29 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church in Everett at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Dale Jenkins Jr.

Member of Shriners and Masons, Had Long Career in Law Enforcement

Dale C. Jenkins Jr. of Everett died on May 20. He was 60 years old.

A graduate of Northeastern University with a BA in Law Enforcement, he graduated from Massachusetts School of Law with a JD, and from Boston University with an LLM. Serving in law enforcement for more than 30 years, he was formerly Undersecretary of Public Safety for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as a former Middlesex County Sheriff. He was most recently employed by the Middleton Police Department. He was the co-founder of Alliance Detective & Security Service, Inc. in Everett. He was also a Shriner and member of the Masonic Lodge.

The beloved son of Mary F. “Fannie” (Mercer) Jenkins and the late Dale C. Jenkins, Sr., he was the husband of Marianne Jenkins; loving father of Dale C. Jenkins, III and his wife, Tiffany, of North Andover; loving grandfather of Alana and Lilah Jenkins. He is also survived by several dear nieces.

Americo ‘Rico’ Ciampa

Of Florida, formerly of Everett

Americo M. “Rico” Ciampa of Pompano Beach FL, formerly of Everett, died on May 16.

He was the beloved husand of Jenny Hung Yee Leong and the late Ida (Brunco); loving father of Janice Spaulding of Salisbury, Joseph of Georgetown, and loving stepfather of James Perriello of Virginia Beach and Ann Guerriero of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Antonelli, Ann Marie and Joseph Ciampa, Lisa Anderson and Richard and Marc Guerriero; and four great grandchuildren, Simonne Antonelli, Hayden Salmonson and Evan and Eric Anderson.

Philip John Darragh

Retired Malden High School Math Teacher

Philip John Darragh of Malden died on May 21.

He was a beloved and dedicated math teacher at Malden High School for more than 25 years and was recognized as Teacher of the Year and received three Maldonian Yearbook dedications in 1971, 1982, and 1992. 

He was a proud veteran of World War II serving on the USS Samuel Chase which was in Tokyo Bay during the surrender ceremonies.  He was an avid camper, traveler, and skier for more than 50 years at Mt. Whittier and Mt. Cranmore in New Hampshire, treasuring his NASTAR racing pins and achieving the rare honor of wearing the Over Eighty Skier patch.

He was the beloved husband of 58 years of the late Noreen (Kelly); father of Patricia DeMaria, Philip John, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, Paul Kevin and his wife, Lori, Shaun Patrick, and his faithful canine companion, Lady Jane. He was the brother of Richard, Thomas, Marjory Allgaier, and the late Catherine and is also survived by six grandchildren, Louis and Lisa Marie DeMaria, Meaghan Elizabeth, Kathleen Mary, Paul Michael and James Philip.

Camilo Sousa

Everett resident

Camilo Sousa of Everett died on May 19.

He was the devoted husband of Sofia (Rodrigues) Sousa; loving father of Alcinda Borges, Herminia Reis, Nildo, Ernesto and Manuel Sousa; beloved brother of Joao Dinis and the late Manuel and Evo Sousa and is also survived by 15 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Carol Whyte

Died Tragically

Carol J. (Chipman) White, a lifelong resident of Everett, died tragically on May 17. She was 72 years old.

A homemaker, she was the mother of Kim L. Greenberg of Roslyn, NY, and the late Jason, Kenneth and Katie Whyte; sister of Clayton Chipman of Melrose and George Chipman of Saugus; grandmother of Justin, Josh and Jessica Greenberg and Alison Cooper. She is also survived by her beloved pups, Mopsy and Chi-Chi.

Vincenzo Mancini

Member of Sons of Orsogna, sang in Italian Choir

Vincenzo Mancini of Everett died on May 19. He was 62 years old.

A member of the Sons of Orsogna Club, he sang in the Italian Choir with his late mother, Filomena, for many years. He was also a member of a Bowling League in Woburn, loved ballroom dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Born in Orsogna Abruzzi Italy, he was the son of the late Filippo and Filomena (Paolini.) He was the very good friend of Veronica LaTorre of Salem, NH; the brother of Mario and his wife, Edna, of Everett, nephew of Vittorio and his wife, Maria, of Everett and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family in both Italy and Argentina.

Beverly resident

John R. Cruikshank of Beverly died on May 18. He was 83 years old.

He was the father of Glenn of New Hampshire, John Jr. of Malden, Dana of Lynnfield and Dennis of Beverly. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Ryder).

Retired Whidden Hospital Transporter

Mary F. Lynch of Everett died on May 16. She was 91 years old.

A retired longtime transporter at Whidden Memorial Hospital, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Lynch; the loving sister of the late Rose Costello, Bernice Spracklin, Margaret, Arthur, John, and James Lynch. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Riccardo D’Angelo

Founding Member of Sons of Orsogna

Riccardo D’Angelo, a long time resident of Everett, died on May 18. He was 96 years old.

Born in Orsogna, Italy, he was a laborer in the construction industry, a member of the Laborers Union Local 22 and a founding member of the Sons of Orsogna, Everett.

He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Tollese); dear and devoted father of Pasquale and his wife, Giovanna, of Everett and Domenico and his wife, Jeanette, of East Boston; loving grandfather of Richard D’Angelo of Peabody, Gianna D’Angelo Dunn and her husband, Stephen, of Everett and Michelle D’Angelo of East Boston and great-grandfather of Richard D’Angelo, Jr. and Robert and Sara Dunn.

Karen Lovett

Mashpee resident

Karen G. Lovett of Mashpee died May 15 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was 69 years old.

A 15 year employee until her retirement at the Brockton Housing Authority, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion(Washington) Lovett; mother of Lawrence Lovett of Plymouth,, sister of Ronald B. Lovett of West Medford, and Roland L. Lovett of Upper Marlboro, MD; grandmother of Nicole Lovett of Plymouth and Daniel Monahan of Brockton. She also leaves her devoted cousin Patricia Hicks and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary DiTommaso

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Everett

Mary L. (Assetta) DiTommaso of Lee, NH, also of York Beach ME, formerly of Malden, Everett, Stoneham and Punta Gorda FL, died peacefully on May 15 under the loving hands of the staff at Exeter on Hampton Care and SolAmor Hospice Care, Exeter NH after a brief illness. She was 84 years old.

She enjoyed family and friends and had a passion for cooking that touched all who entered her homes. Many of her fondest memories were spent summering and entertaining on the beach in York ME, sharing the family summer home with everyone who stopped by.

She leaves her son Lewis DiTommaso, daughter-in-law Alicia (Young) DiTommaso, both of Lee, NH, and her grandchildren, Joseph DiTommaso and Leah DiTommaso of Lee, NH. She was born November 20th, 1925, the daughter of Giovanni Assetta and Antoinette (Papile) Assetta, in Malden. She was the wife of the late Joseph DiTommaso, mother of the late Elena Marie DiTommaso, and sister of the late Rinaldo Assetta of Las Vegas NV and Henry Assetta of Malden.

Thelma I. (Mercer) Lloyd of Everett died on May 16.

She was the wife of Bernard; loving mother of Suzanne Lloyd and her husband, Donald Vacheresse, of Everett, Deborah Paschal and her husband, Justin, of Nashua, NH, Florence, Bernard Jr. and Richard, all of Everett; sister of Thomas Mercer of Milford and the late Donald Mercer.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, James Jr. and Ashley.

Anthony Laurence Casarano

Worked for Norelco and at Logan Airport

Anthony Laurence Casarano of Everett, an East Boston native who moved to Everett 25 years ago, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston on May 17 following a brief illness He was 66 years old.

Born in Cambridge and raised and schooled in East Boston, he was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1961. He entered the US Navy in August of 1963 and served until August of 1969. Early in his working career, he worked as a mechanic for Norelco in the Anderson Power project. He retired after seven years of service with Local 22 at Logan Airport.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Camille A. (Suarez) Casarano and his children, Anthony L. Jr. and his wife, Lee Anne, of Londonderry, NH, Kerri Anne Casarano and her companion, Thadeus Darcy, of Malden and Steven M. Casarano and his wife, Erika, of Methuen. He was the dear brother of Anne Marie Venti and her husband, Richard, of Dracut and the late Nicholas and Michael Casarno and the proud and cherished Grampy to Grace M., Maria R., Arthur R. and Joseph Casarano; loving cousin of the Interbartolo family and the life long friend of Louis Lauria of Peabody, Adeline and Joseph Ciarcia of Danvers, Trudy Lumia of Tewksbury and the late Larry Lumia.

Rosa Esposito

Everett resident

Rosa (Laiberte) Esposito of Everett died on May 16.

She was the beloved wife of the late Carmine Esposito and loving mother of Joseph, Gerardo, Grazia DiFabio, Antonio, and Vito Esposito and the late Rocco. She is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Robert Clarke

Retired Everett Firefighter

Robert D. Clarke, Retired BPD Engine 50 of Everett, formerly of Dorchester, died on May 15.

A US Navy veteran and a member of the Everett Veteran Firefighter Association, he was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Nolin) Clarke; loving devoted father of Dorothy L. Reardon of Lynn, Robert D. Clarke of Salem, William H. Clarke of Watertown, Judith A. Murray of No. Reading, Kenneth W. Clarke of Pembroke and James J. Clarke of Everett; brother of the late Charles Clarke. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
