Joan DeBenedetto

Vermont resident

Joan M. DeBenedetto of Morrisville, VT, died March 29 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She was 66 years old.

Born in Malden on April 26, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Hilda (Doucette) Arnold. She and her husband came to Morrisville seven years ago from Reading. She loved to cook and enjoyed making and teaching ceramics as well as painting.

She leaves her husband, Anthony “Tony” DeBenedetto of Morrisville; a daughter, Denise Morton, and her husband, Troy, and their son, Calvin Morton, of Waterbury Center, VT; a brother, Edward Arnold and his wife, Shirley, of Salem, NH; a sister-in-law, Josephine Caprio of Everett; two brothers-in-law, Gerald DeBenedetto and his wife, Marguerite, of Everett and Albert DeBenedetto and his wife, Sandra, of Danville, NH and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, VT Affiliate, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495. The White-Fiess Funeral Home of Morrisville, VT is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

John Rzezuski

Automobile Salesman, ASA Softball League member

John R. Rzezuski of Saugus died on April 2.

An automobile salesman and a member of the ASA Softball League of the North Shore, he was the devoted father of Robert P. Rzezuski and his wife, Kristen, of Dracut, Karyn A. Huntsman and her husband, James, of Everett and Steven J. Rzezuski of Saugus; dear brother of Paul Rzezuski of California and Loretta Caira of Waltham and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Medford resident

Louise K. (Grimes) Mulcahy of Medford died on March 30.

She was an Associate Member of the 63rd Infantry Association of World War II US Army.

Affectionately called “Auntie Lou”, she was the beloved wife of the late James T. Mulcahy; loving mother of Patricia Palumbo of Georgetown; loving sister of the late Gertrude Clifford, Florence SantaMaria and Helen Mirra; loving daughter of the late Edward and Almina (Rexford) Grimes and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Cincotti Funeral Home, 421 High St, Medford today, Wednesday, at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Raphael’s Church, 512 High St, Medford at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Diane B. (Iwanicki) Bryson of Chelsea died on March 31.

The devoted wife of Dennis Bryson, she was the beloved mother of Diana, Sandra and Meghan Bryson, all of Chelsea; loving sister of Deborah Henry of Revere, and Irene Lapiana of Everett; cherished grandmother of Amanda, James and Mercedez and is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Grace C. Cavallaro of Everett died on April 1.

Herbert “Hank” L. Hardy of Everett died on April 1. He was 94 years old.

He was a retired member of ILA Local 799 of Charlestown and a member of the Old Charlestown School Boy’s Association.

He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Vincent) Hardy; stepfather of Walter Reston and his wife, Bridget, grandfather of Scott Reston and his wife, Holly, all of Raleigh, NC, and Traci Reston of Austin, TX; brother of Ruth Connolly of Weymouth, and Richard Hardy of Pompano Beach, FL, and of the late Nellie Sheehan, Harriet Gilman, Ethel Ployer, James Hardy, George Hardy and Robert Hardy.

Margaret Lorraine (Higgins) Devanna of Everett died on April 1.

Her loving arms were always open to everyone.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Jr.; mother of Sandra Marino and her husband, Philip, of Tewksbury, Edward F. III of Malden, Gale Colometo of Leominster, Barbara Rocca and her husband, Mark, of North Andover, and Kevin and his wife, Laurie, of Everett; sister of Edward Higgins of Billerica, and the sister of 13 late siblings. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Lucy S. (Mastrangelo) Alba of Georgetown, formerly of Everett, died on April 2. She was 92 years old.

A member of the American Legion, she was the loving mother of Sam C. Alba and his wife, Frani, of Manchester, NH; beloved sister of Margaret DePietro and her husband, Al, of Georgetown, John Mastrangelo and his wife, Bobbie, of New Hampshire and the late Abel Mastrangelo. She is survived by one loving granddaughter, Lynda C. Alba of Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.

Carla Bocchino of Everett died suddenly at home on March 31. She was 47 years old.

Born in Benovento, Naples, Italy, she was a retired graphic designer in the printing industry.

She was the beloved daughter of Palmira (Tranfaglia) and Antonio Bocchino; loving mother of Jessica Bocchino Kiley of Saugus; sister of Joseph Bocchino and his wife, Patricia, of Peabody, Nick Bocchino and his wife, Patricia, of Georgetown; Itillia Pepe of Revere and Jerry Bochino and his wife, Kim, of Saugus.

Robert DeVito

Of Chelsea, Everett and East Boston

Robert S. DeVito passed away at the Annemark Nursing home in North Revere on Wednesday March 24 after a brief illness.

Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Elvira (Puya) DeVito. He graduated from East Boston High School and immediately enlisted in the US Army during World War II. He served in the European Theater with the 2266th Quartermaster Truck Co. and was honorably discharged in 1947 at the rank of Tech. 5th grade.

He settled in Everett and worked as a foreman for NASCO bedding in Chelsea until his retirement. A Chelsea resident for the past 30 years, he was a longtime member of the P.A.V. Post 13 Chelsea.

He was the beloved husband of 22 years of Helena (Piecha) DeVito, who died in 1998; the dear brother of Joseph DeVito of Everett and the late Marie Vecchione, Armando and Anthony DeVito. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Las Vegas resident

Joseph P. Ryan of Las Vegas, NV died on March 29. He was 95 years old.

He was the beloved husband of the late Hazel Ryan and loving father of Kathleen Sereno of Las Vegas and James Ryan of East Falmouth, and the late Francis Ryan; loving son of the late John and Mary Ryan and the beloved brother of Margaret Rogers of East Falmouth. He is survived by eight loving grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Frank ‘Saggy’ Sagarino

Frank “Saggy” Sagarino of Everett died on March 29. He was 101 years old.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marguerite “Peggy” and loving brother of the late Phil, Celia, Antoinetta and Rocco and nephew Walter Barry. He is survived by his step grand daughter Dorothy Nickles and her husband, Stanley, of Malden, his Loving niece, Joan Barry Dubinski, and her husband, Tony, of Connecticut and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Jamie Wetherbee and Robert Constantine.

Lyon Buendia

Arborist

Lyon V. Buendia, a two year resident of Somerville, formerly of Chelsea, died unexpectedly on March 22. He was 31 years old.

He attended Chelsea Public Schools and worked in construction demolition. He later worked as an arborist for a local tree company until his sudden death.

He was the beloved son of Maria Buendia of East Boston and Lionel Lee of Florida; father of Gary, Lyon, Logan and Spencer; dear grandson of Louis and Aurora (Sanchez) Buendia of Florida, Gwendolin Lee of West Medford and the late Lionel Lee and is also lovingly survived by aunts, uncles and 26 cousins.

Phyllis Breda-Binda

Phyllis (DeLoreto) Breda-Binda of Everett died on March 29. She was 95 years old.

The beloved wife of the late Charles Binda and Natale Breda, she was the loving mother of Arlene Dotoli and her late husband, Arthur, of Melrose, Lino Binda and his wife, Ruth, of Revere and the late Joyce Forbes and her late husband, Windsor, of Malden. She is survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Louis J. Infurna of Melrose, formerly of Everett and the North End of Boston, died on March 29.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was the loving husband of Anna I. (Carrabis) Infurna; devoted father of Rosalind D’Amico and her husband, Salvatore, Cosmo L. Infurna and his wife, Gail, all of Melrose; grandfather of Michael and Mark Infurna; brother of Phillip Infurna of Lynnfield, Joseph Infurna of Arizona and the late Marie Pardo and Lucy Imprescia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
