Nunez Finishes 4th for EHS at GBL Meet

Lucas Nunez capped an outstanding career for the Everett High boys cross country team with a fourth-place finish at last Wednesday’s Greater Boston League Meet that was held along the banks of the Mystic River at Torbert Macdonald Park in Medford.

Nunez’s strong performance of 17:37 over the 5K course, which earned Lucas a spot on the GBL All-Star team for the second consecutive year, paced the Crimson Tide to a fourth-place finish in the team standings, behind Somerville, Medford, and Malden.

“We had a good showing at the GBL championship,” said EHS head coach Brendan Hahesy.  “The boys’ team finished fourth overall.  Lucas Nunez once again led the way for the team on the way to an individual fourth-place finish. By finishing fourth, Lucas earned his second consecutive GBL League all star honor.  It was a nice capstone on a highly successful running career in the Greater Boston League with many individual wins along the way.”

On the girls’ side, Shashi Pokhrel finished in 25th place in a time of 26:50. Teammate Nathalia Cesario came across in 31st place in a clocking of 30:01.
