Everett High Football Loses to Revere High, 21-14, on Late TD

The Everett High School football team stormed back from a two-touchdown deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but Revere scored with 1:36 left to defeat the Tide, 21-14, Friday night at Harry Della Russo Stadium.

Trailing 13-0 at the half, Everett put together two long scoring drives. Quarterback Tyler Freni capped off the first drive with a quarterback sneak. Freni then scrambled and found Armani Negron for a 47-yard touchdown pass, with Wael Fanidi’s PAT giving Everett a 14-13 lead.

“That was a nice, well-executed tight end, crossing route,” said head coach Rob DiLoreto about the go-ahead score. “Tyler had to scramble a little bit, and he hit Armani in stride. That was a big play in our season. It’s been a tough six weeks, and for them to come back and take the lead, it showed a lot of heart. I just wish we could have finished the game stronger.”

Revere followed with a scoring drive, capped by Reda Atoui’s 12-yard touchdown run.

Freni teamed up with receiver Philip Pimenta for successive pass plays resulting in first downs. With the clocking winding down and Everett facing a 2nd-and-10 at the Revere 28-yard line, Atoui intercepted a pass to end Everett’s drive.

Everett (2-6) plays at Cambridge (4-4) Friday at 7 p.m.
