Dr. Alfred P. Mavilio

Praticed Dentistry in Everett for 58 Years

Dr. Alfred P. Mavilio died peacefully on February 25, 2025 while surrounded by family at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home.

Dr. Mavilio was born and raised in Everett and attended Everett public schools before matriculating to Boston University and Northwestern University Dental School. Dr. Mavilio practiced dentistry in the City of Everett for 58 years, many of those years with his partner, Dr. James T. McNeil.

He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Lillian (Mastrianni) Mavilio, brothers: Joseph, John, Peter and his sister, Dora Masiello.  He is survived by nieces and nephews: Doreen Azzolino (Michael), Joseph Mavilio, David Mavilio, Peter Mavilio (Shanna), Ellen Fulchini (Vincent), John Mavilio, and Pamela Mavilio, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended Dr. Mavilio’s visitation in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home,  65 Clark St.  (Corner of Main St.) Everett on Friday, February 28th with a funeral home service following.  Burial was in the family lot at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Our family would also like to recognize the Chelsea Soldier’s Home for the exceptional care they provided for Uncle over the last few years.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. Alfred P. Mavilio’s name to the Veterans’ Home at Chelsea, 100 Summit Ave, Chelsea, MA 02150  would be sincerely appreciated.

Paul Shanley

Paul E. Shanley of Everett entered into eternal rest at home on Thursday, February 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old.

Born in the Brighton section of Boston, Paul resided in Everett for many years.  He was an attorney by profession and worked at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Treasurer’s Office and retired as its Chief Legal Counsel. He served on the Board of Trustees for the PRIM Board.  Paul was very actively involved with the Immaculate Conception Church in Everett. A daily communicant, Paul devoted many years to parish ministry-Eucharistic Minister, lector and serving on the Finance Board. He also made two missions to aid the people of Haiti and he was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era

Son of the late Vincent J. and Anna (McCarthy) Shanley, he was the beloved husband of Gail A. (O’Brien) Shanley for over 52 years; dear and devoted father of Richard J. Shanley and Paul H. Shanley of Everett and Caitlin O. Shanley of Charlestown; dear brother of Joseph Shanley of Billerica, Michael Shanley of Braintree, Patricia Ring of New York, Mary Villani of Brighton, Ann Moran of Brighton, Louise Burke of Beverly and the late Vincent Shanley and loving grandfather of Brayden, Luca and Noah Shanley.  Paul is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends. 

Relatives and friends attended visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home,  65 Clark St.  (Corner of Main St.) Everett on Tuesday, March 4 and his funeral will be from the funeral home today, Wednesday, March 5 at 9 a.m.  followed by Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 10 a.m.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory to Catholic Charities, 275 W. Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127 would be sincerely appreciated.  Parking with attendants on duty.
