The Everett High girls basketball team saved its best for last, toppling previously unbeaten Lynn English, 47-41, to claim the Greater Boston League championship Saturday at the Paul Cavanagh Fieldhouse in Lynn.
Junior guard Andrea Manley was sensational for the Crimson Tide from start to finish. Manley was clearly the MVP of the game with 27 points, showcasing her superb dribbling, playmaking, and long-range shooting skills.
Maya Kirnon, playing the final game for her excellent career for Everett High, was immense down the stretch, netting a clutch three-pointer and three free throws to help Everett take charge in the final minutes. Ashley Fitzgerald also made a major contribution to the victory in her final game.
Other members of the GBL championship team were juniors Gigi Boyce, Celeste Fucillo, Jane Odiari, and Ashley Cordeiro, and sophomores Kayley Rossi and Tatiana Moran.
Everett head coach Riley Dunn did an outstanding job in her first season, leading the Crimson Tide to an 8-1 record and the GBL title.
The future of the program looks very bright.
