Retired Seamstress Who Loved Her Family and Enjoyed Life
Sophie (Rizzo) Galardi of Revere passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 27 at the age of 98.
Sophie worked as a seamstress for many years in Boston, Revere and Chelsea. A member of the Teamsters Union 841 of Boston, she was a woman who loved family, enjoyed life and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Born in Boston on July 1, 1922 to the late Martin and Elizabeth Rizzo, she was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Guy Galardi, devoted mother of Elaine Draper and her late husband, Fred “Skip” of Revere, Cheryl DiChappari and her husband, Frank of Burlington and the late Robert “Bobby” Galardi and his surviving wife, Ruthann; cherished grandmother of Eric Galardi and his wife, Kim, Marc Galardi and his wife, Olga, Craig Draper and his wife, Lynn, Wendy Ward and her husband, Joe, Derek DiChappari, and Ashley Moore and her husband, Kyle; adored great grandmother of Michael, Kimberly, Joseph, Joshua, Jack, Benjamin, Adelina, Capriana and Bellezza and the dear sister of the late Arthur Rizzo and his surviving wife, Josephine “Tootsie,” Salvatore Rizzo, Carmella Lombardi, Florence Rizzo, Samuel Rizzo and Edith Mercurio. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere on Thursday, November 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. (The family respects your decision if you can’t attend due to the current circumstances we are facing with Covid-19). Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Due to Covid-19 guidelines and due to strict capacity limits, we ask everyone to make a brief visit and then exit the funeral home so others may enter. Social distancing and masks are required at the funeral home and church. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Revere on Friday, November 6 at 11 a.m. Everyone to meet directly at church (Names and temperatures will be taken upon entrance). Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
