Conservation Commission to Begin Discussions on Market Street Flooding

The fix on one of the most persistent long-standing flooding problems in Everett is about to get its first public airing at the Conservation Commission in an online meeting on Thursday, May 21.

The Market Street Culvert issue has come up for years and years, and is the source of major flooding in the Parkway and adjacent neighborhoods. That has been the case for years, but the Boston Market Terminal and the City of Everett and City of Chelsea have been sparring as to who is responsible.

Earlier this year, The Davis Companies bought the terminal for a potential distribution facility – which will be brand new construction. As part of that, they pledged to fix the massive culvert – which has totally collapsed and open the channel where they can.

The first airing of that will be at the Con Com in a Notice of Intent filing on May 21, to be held in an online meeting at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

For more information on how to view the meeting, check the City’s website for the agenda. The Zoom meeting ID is 858 9940 1618, and more information can be had by emailing Rachel Kelly at [email protected].
