Brandon Quigley

Active in Revere Youth Baseball and Hockey

Brandon Quigley of Revere passed away on Aug. 30 at the age of 28.

Brandon was active in Revere youth baseball and hockey. He attended Malden high school.

Born on Feb. 23, 1991 in Melrose to his father, John Testa and his wife, Kris of Kingston, N.H. and his mother, Lori Quigley of Melrose, he was the dear brother of Brie McCarron of Reading, and Shane McCarron and Isabella Testa, both of Kinston, N.H.; cherished grandson of Joe and Diane (Matwiczyk) Testa of Lunenburg, Mass., Sally Kennedy French of Merideth, N.H. and Doris Rogers of Andover. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John Kavanaugh

Retired Everett educator

John J. Kavanaugh of Danvers, 69, passed away suddenly in his home on Sept. 14. 

He was the husband of Marcia (McDonald) Kavanaugh with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Born in Everett on Feb. 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Daniel and Gertrude (Olson) Kavanaugh.

He was raised and educated in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1968.  John attended Mass Bay Community College and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Salem State University as well as his CAGS.  John had been a devoted educator for over 30 years in the Everett School system. In retirement, few things gave him more joy than his weekly trips back to the classroom as a volunteer.

In addition to his wife, Marcia, he is survived by his three children: Adam Kavanaugh and his wife, Kimberly of Vermont, Elizabeth Kavanaugh of Salem and Kevin Kavanaugh of Vermont, his granddaughter, Brianna, his brother, Daniel Kavanaugh and his wife, Joan of Wakefield and his nephews and niece, Daniel, Scott and Kerri Kavanaugh-Conley.  He is also survived by his extended family and his many friends and colleagues.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.  Burial is private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to The George Keverian School P.T.O. Vasilika Tsucalas

Of Everett

Vasilika “Vicky” D. Tsucalas of Everett passed away on Sept. 12.

She was the beloved daughter of the late James V. and Calliope (Stathas) Tsucalas,  devoted sister of Simone Dodge and the late John J. Tsucalas, loving aunt of Kaylee D. Murphy and her partner, Karen Freitas and Gary J. Dodge and his wife, Egle; great aunt of Brady, Corey, Conor, and Kaitlin Murphy, Chloe and Troy Dodge and sister-in-law of Joanne Crane Tsucalas. She is also survived by many dear friends. 

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, Parker & Ruggles Sts., Boston at 11 a.m.  Visitation prior to the service will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Donations in her memory may be made to the above named church. Burial will be in the Gardens Cemetery, West Roxbury.

James Tano

Of Everett

James J. Tano, 87, of Everett died on Sept. 13. He was the husband of the late Doris (Powers) Tano, loving father of Cheryl Tano and her husband, Zaheer Samee and John, James, and Kathe Tano; loving son of the late John Sarah Tano; brother of the late Phyllis Tano, Celia Celona and Rose Pento; beloved grandfather of Adriana, Brittany, Dahlia and Simone Gallagher and loving great-grandfather of Paul Michael and Quincy.
