Amelio ‘Mel’ DiOrio

Former proprietor of Mel’s Sunoco Service Station in Everett

Amelio V. “Mel” DiOrio of Wakefield entered into eternal rest at home on Tuesday, September 4.  He was 89 years old.

Born in Revere, Mel and his wife, Mary made Wakefield their home for many years after transitioning from Lynnfield.

A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was the former proprietor of Mel’s Sunoco Service Station, Everett, retiring after 35 years of servicing his many longtime and faithful patrons.

He was the beloved husband of Mary N. (Guarino) for nearly 64 years, dear and devoted father of Steven P. DiOrio and his wife, Judy of Westborough, Richard D. DiOrio and his wife, Carol of Merrimack, NH and Chris M. DiOrio and his wife, Bonnie of Wilmington; brother of Joseph DiOrio, Edith Romano, Marie Prezioso and the late Michael, Ernest and Richard DiOrio and Theresa Stanchi; loving Papa of Christina DiOrio, Nicholas DiOrio and his wife, Ashley, Samuel DiOrio, Kara DiOrio, LisamarieDiOrio and CJ DiOrio and loving Papa Papa of Stella DiOrio.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso& Sons Funeral Home, Everett.

Entombment, with U. S. Army Military Honors, was in Woodlawn Cemetery Community Mausoleum, Everett. Contributions in Amelio’s memory to Middlesex-East Visiting Nurse Hospice, 800 W. Cummings Park, Ste. 5000, Woburn, MA 01801 would be sincerely appreciated.
