Janet Showstead

Of Everett

Janet A. Showstead of Everett died on August 1.

She was the loving mother of Ann Showstead and her partner, John Mitchell, beloved daughter of Evelyn Showstead and the late John, loving sister of Bruce Showstead and his wife, Gail, Joyce Showstead, Danny Showstead and Christopher Showstead and the late Brian Showstead.

A Memorial Celebration of Janet’s life will take place on Saturday, August 25 at the Glendale Christian Lighthouse Church, 701 Broadway, Everett, from 12 to 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

Joseph Napoli

Decorated US Navy veteran of World War II and 45-year Gannon Golf Course member

Joseph S. Napoli of Everett died on August 14.

Joseph was a decorated World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific as a Yeoman in the Franklin and Newport ships. He was a proud member of the Gannon Golf Course for 45 years and founder of many interclub leagues at Gannon.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary (Harrison), loving father of Gerald “Jerry” Napoli and his wife, Carol, Lorraine Churchill and her husband, Ken and Jim Napoli; loving brother of the late Pat, Johnny, Mary and Angie. He is survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Joseph’s name to a charity of your choice.

Donald Whitehouse

Ordained minister, retired Everett purchasing agent and business manager for schools and successful local and state political campaigns

Donald E. Whitehouse of Nashua, NH, a longtime resident of Everett, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 15 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Center in Manchester, NH after living at Ledgewood Bay Assisted Living in Milford NH. He was 84 years old.

Don was born in Everett on October 2, 1933.  He was a graduate of Everett High School and Gordon College and was a U.S. Army veteran based in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Don was married to the love of his life, Nancy for 58 years. They made their home in Everett before moving to Nashua, NH to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Don was the Business Manager for Lynnfield, Saugus and Natick school systems.  He was the campaign manager for five consecutive victorious Mayoral campaigns in Everett along with State Senate and Representative campaigns in Massachusetts throughout his political career.  He was also the Purchasing Agent for the City of Everett.  He sat on the Board of Directors at the Eagle Savings Bank, Board of Assessors, Chairman of the Housing Authority, all of Everett and Tri-State Mental Health of Lynn.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather – family was everything to Don.  Don and Nancy were members of the First Baptist Church in Everett for over 50 years.  He was also an ordained minister, choir director, youth director and would take on any opportunity to serve the Lord.

Members of his family include three children: Deborah J. Giovinelli and her husband, Robert, Cindy L. Whitehouse and David T. Whitehouse, all of Nashua, NH; three grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Kelsey Giovinelli, Lindsey Giovinelli and Timothy Whitehouse.

A Celebration of His Life will be held in the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church, 517 Boston Post Road in South Merrimack, NH today, Wednesday August 22 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in Nashua.  The Rev. Larry Clouse, Pastor will officiate. Family and friends are invited to attend.

A period of visitation will be held at the church this morning starting at 10 a.m.
