Everett Receives $825,000 in Community Development Block Grant

The City of Everett was awarded $825,000 through the Massachusetts Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The CDBG is a federally funded, competitive grant program designed to help small cities and towns meet a broad range of community needs including housing and economic development projects. State Rep. Joe McGonagle and Everett Community Development and Housing Deputy Director MarzieGalazka received the grant at the State House on July 26 from Gov. Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor KarynPolito, Secretary Jay Ash, and Undersecretary Janelle Chan.

“The Community Development Block Grant Program funding continues to support and improve quality of life for so many residents of Everett,” said Mayor Carlo DeMaria. “These funds will support park renovation and beautification, provide direct social services to hundreds of residents, and allow entrepreneurs to grow their small businesses, adding tremendous value to our community.”

State Rep. Joe McGonagle said of the grant, “We in Everett are honored to receive this Community Development Block Grant, which will be integral to the continued development of the Everett community, economy, and services to support the city’s hardworking people.”
