Everett High School Student Named a Jostens National Photo Contest Winner

Jostens, the leading provider of publications, jewelry and consumer goods serving the K-12 and college market, has announced the winners of its nationally acclaimed 2018 Photo Contest. Ho was the second place winner in the Photo Illustration & Manipulation category for her work titled “Wandering.” Her art will be featured in Jostens’ annual lookbook publication in the fall.  Ho was also the winner for Walsworth Yearbook company’s 2018 Photography Competition’s for work titled “Endless Stories” in the Photo Illustration category.

It’s been a tremendous month for the EHS Art Department. In addition to Ho’s success in the Jostens competition, Amariana Pickett, Daniella Imbriano, and Otajia Sabat were finalists in the 2018 Hunt’s Photo and Video Photography competition, which centered on the theme of “Family Pride.”

Jostens’ annual competition, co-sponsored by Wolfe’s Camera, celebrates the creative and innovative talents of student photographers from schools across the country. This competition empowers students to positively capture their school experiences and share the stories of their entire school communities through photography. The award-winning photos will be showcased in the next release of the Jostens Look Book, which serves as a mode of inspiration for yearbook staffs across the country.

5,400 entries from student photographers were submitted from across the country. From these entries, 80 winners were selected. A panel of four judges consisting of professional photographers and photography instructors assessed the submissions, focusing on composition, artistic merit, and technical qualities, as well as the ability to convey a compelling story.
