Sen DiDomenico Celebrates Immigrants Day at the State House

Senator Sal DiDomenico recently joined his friends at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition, along with participating organizations and advocates at the 2018 Immigrants Day at the State House. Immigrants Day is the biggest lobbying day of the year for immigrants, refugees and allies. This year’s event highlighted the key role that foreign-born workers play in some of Massachusetts’ top economic sectors, such as healthcare, technology, and hospitality, among others.

After a brief speaking program, participating advocates met with legislators to lobby for priority bills and budget items. DiDomenico and his staff met with dozens of constituents and advocates throughout the day, discussing their shared support for programs such as English classes, adult basic education, and immigration services in the Commonwealth. “Massachusetts is made stronger and more vibrant by the diverse group of people who live here, and I was happy to celebrate with our immigrant and refugee community at yet another successful Immigrants Day at the State House,” said DiDomenico. “I’m proud to stand with the MIRA Coalition and recognize the many contributions of immigrants in our Commonwealth!”
