The City’s Zoning Board of Appeals has approved a construction headquarters building for the Wynn Boston Harbor on Charlton Street, and City officials are preparing for the first building permit to be issued soon on the project.
In a unanimous vote on Monday night, the ZBA cleared the way for a one-story support building for construction and office storage. It is on the site where a large warehouse to support casino and resort functions is slated to go in the future.
The building was cleared to decrease in height from three stories to one story. It now moves to the Planning Board for additional reviews.
Wynn officials said it was a milestone in the path towards breaking ground on the $2 billion project. They also said they are eagerly anticipating a building permit in the very near future.
Mayor Carlo DeMaria said he was pleased
“I want to thank the Zoning Board of Appeals for unanimously approving the 3 Charlton Street Office and Facility Maintenance building, as part of the Wynn Resort project,” said Mayor DeMaria. “This is another positive step moving this project forward. I also look forward to the City of Everett very shortly issuing a building permit for foundation work on the Wynn Resort and to a formal groundbreaking ceremony once all required state-level permits and approvals are in place.”
