We commend the Everett Police Department and Chief Steven Mazzie, Mayor Carlo DeMaria, and Bishop Robert Brown and the Zion Church Ministries for taking a proactive approach to race relations and policing in Everett.
A race relations and policing forum, which is scheduled for June 30, addresses a very challenging topic in today’s society. Such forums could be wrought with disagreement and discord, but this forum will work toward cementing a firm trust between police and the public in Everett.
It is just this kind of trust that will help solve problems that could come up in the future. Everett is the most diverse city in the state, according to recent media reports. That means there are many different languages spoken here and many different cultures practiced here. Our police department has done an excellent job in building relationships with all residents in the community and this forum will continue that effort.
We encourage residents to attend Tuesday’s forum at the Zion Church Ministries, 757 Broadway.
