Everett Community Health and Wellness Center Update

Mayor DeMaria’s 10 week fitness challenge officially begins this Saturday, April 18th.  This “self-improvement” challenge will be comprised of a series of fun, fitness activities over a 10-week time, giving every participant an opportunity to lose weight, get fit and improve their health.  We will also cover “healthy eating” and other tips for leading an active, healthy lifestyle.  Body fat analysis and blood pressure testing will be routinely conducted. Join us on Saturday at the Everett Community Health & Wellness Center (548 Broadway) starting at 9:00am for our first weigh-in and nutrition seminar.  Street construction on Maple Avenue will continue and be completed by Friday, April 24th. Health & Wellness Center parking is available in the rear parking lot on Linden Street as well as on street parking on Broadway and Linden.

 Street sweeping on Pleasant Street, Linden Street and Maple Avenue are done every 1st & 3rd Monday of every month. Parking is prohibited on those streets from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

 Center Closed Monday: On Monday, April 20th the Everett Health & Wellness Center will be closed in recognition of Patriot’s Day.

 School Vacation Week: The week of April 20th the Community Health & Wellness Center will be open regular hours Tuesday through Friday 5:00am to 8:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 1:00pm. Just a reminder to parents that all youth must be accompanied by an adult in order to enter the center. Youth are not permitted to use any fitness equipment including weight machines, free weights, or cardio equipment without adult supervision.

 Family Fitness Nights at the Community Health and Wellness Center on Wednesday nights has been moved to the Albert N. Parlin School on 587 Broadway. Gymnasium doors open at 5:55pm for a 6:00pm start. This is a free program for all Everett residents. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate in family fitness programming.

 Cardio Kickboxing has been taken off the schedule for the remainder of April.

 City Works Summer Youth Program applications are now available at the community center front desk. City Works is a summer day program for children ages 6 through 13 years of age. The program runs Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Children will participate in group programs, park time, pool time, entertainment, dances, and weekly field trips. City Works runs for 6 weeks starting July 6th through August 14th. Completed applications are due by Friday, June 19th.

 High School Basketball League begins May 1st. All games will be played at the Everett Recreation Center 47 Elm Street. We are currently excepting registration now through April 28th.

Mayor DeMaria’s 3-ON-3 basketball challenge will be held at the Everett Community Health & Wellness Center on Saturday April 25th from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. This is a free event for students in grades 5 through 12. Registration is required for participation. Registration forms are available at the community center front desk.

 Adult Open Gym for pick-up basketball will be available weekly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Everett Recreation Center, 47 Elm Street.
