Romeo ‘Roy’ Manganiello

Skilled carpenter and avid golfer

Romeo J. “Roy” Manganiello, a lifelong resident of Everett, entered into rest on  March 28 in the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 94 years old.

Born in Everett, Roy was a skilled carpenter by profession, an avid golfer and a US Navy veteran of World War II.

He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Calabrese); dear and devoted father of Paul and his wife, Garlyn of Bristol, NH, Stephen and his wife, Elizabeth of Stoneham, Mark and his wife, Ulrike of Everett and Michael and his wife, Carla of Saugus; brother of the late Willam and Gerard Menza, Lee Santaniello and Juliette Guarino Mercier; loving grandfather of Lauren Stoorza and her husband, Joel, Amy and Matthew Manganiello, Michael, Mark and his wife, Melissa, Charlie and Lizzie Manganiello and great-grandfather of Emily Ray Stoorza.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Romeo’s visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, 65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) Everett today, Wednesday, April 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a prayer service in the Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Romeo’s memory to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA 01867 or to the charity of one’s choice would be sincerely appreciated.

Joseph ‘Jumbo’ Valeri

Joseph P.  ‘Jumbo’ Valeri of Everett entered into rest on March 25 in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 53 years old.

Born in Malden, Joseph lived in Everett for all of his life. A high school graduate, Joseph received an Associate Degree in hotel management and culinary arts. A chef by profession, Joseph worked at various restaurants in the Boston area as well as in  New Hampshire.

He was the beloved son of Louise M. (Colarusso) and the late Vincent P. Valeri of Everett; dear and devoted father of Michael and Ronald Valeri of New Hampshire; loving brother of Michael Valeri and his wife, Sandra of Middleton and Nelda O’Neill and her husband, Joseph of Everett; devoted uncle of Christopher O’Neill, Vincent and Katrina Valeri.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office,100 Cambridge St., Boston, MA 02114 would be sincerely appreciated.
