Pioneer Panthers take the Championship

The Pioneer Charter School of Science Boys Soccer team won the Massachusetts Charter School Atheltic Organization (MCSAO) Championship on Saturday at Hormel Stadium in Medford with a 5-1 victory over Foxborough Regional Charter School.  The Panthers finished the regular season 12-1-1 and entered the tournament as the number one seed.  The team was led by senior captains Jon Le and Craig Percoco.  This is the first soccer championship for the Panthers, in only its fifth season having a team. “It feels really really great. We’ve been out here for 5 years now and we finally won it” says senior Skolle Charles from Everett. Additional congratulations go to co-captain Jon Le for his second MCSAO League MVP in a row and to Coach Phil Signoroni for his third MCSAO Coach of the Year in a row.

​​The Girls’ soccer team also played very well this season and came in second place in the league. The PCSS Girls’ Volleyball team fought hard but lost to Foxborough Regional Charter School at the MCSAA championship on November 7.

The athletics program at PCSS is led by Athletic Director, Phil Signoroni. The program consists of 10 teams including volleyball, baseball, soccer, basketball, cross country, cheerleading, softball and track and field. The teams are all coached by dedicated teachers and staff at PCSS.
