Frances Gangemi

Retired Bridal Consultant

Frances N. (Cobino) Gangemi, a long time Everett resident, passed away at Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody on April 15. She was 87 years old.

Frances was born March 25, 1927, one of eight children of the late Angelo and Erminia (D’Ambrosio) Cobino. Though she was born in Boston, she has been a lifelong Everett resident. Frances graduated from Girls’ Trade School in Boston. Her last job was a bridal consultant at Kay’s Bridal Salon which was in Glendale Square.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be lovingly remembered for her endless love and dedication to them.

Besides her love of her family, she was an avid reader and loved to sew. She also enjoyed playing the lottery and bingo.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Gangemi, she was the loving mother of Elaine Motta and her husband, Leo of Lynnfield and Stephen Gangemi and his wife, Julie of Peabody; the sister of Dorothy Crowley of Burlington and the late Frank, Jeanne O’Leary, Ellen Zuccaro, Rose Pierangelo, Carmina Ferrera and Mary Minuno. Frances is also survived by  five grandchildren: Andrew, Gregory, Elizabeth, Joseph and Stephanie and four great grandchildren Carter, Ja’Kaih, Tiyanna and Gwendolyn. Her Funeral will be held from the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home today, Wednesday,  followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in The Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Gerald Osterman officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Hugo Scarpellini, Jr.

Hugo Scarpellini, Jr. of Everett passed away unexpectedly on April 17. He was 67 years old. Hugo was a member of The Knights of Columbus of Everett and also taught CCD for seven years. Holistic medicine was one of his major interests.He was the beloved son of the late Hugo Scarpellini, Sr. and Phyllis (Guanci) Keefe; stepson of the late Thomas Keefe; beloved husband of Laura M. (Meyer) Scarpellini; loving father of James Scarpellini and his wife, Pascaline Broyer of Chelmsford, Jason Scarpellini and his wife, Katherine of Tyngsboro, and Joseph Scarpellini of Everett; beloved brother of Ursula Wilcox and her husband, David of Everett; stepbrother of Patrick Keefe and his wife, Lucille of Everett and Danny Keefe and his wife, Jeanne of West Harwich; cherished grandfather of Laura Scarpellini of Everett and Blake Scarpellini of Tyngsboro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral from the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett, on Thursday, April 24, at 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, at 12 p.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home today, Wednesday, from 5 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  For directions and online guest book, visit jfwardfuneralhome.com

Penny Bova

Medical Secretary

Penny G. (Bernard) Bova, a lifelong Everett resident, entered into rest at home on  April 14 surrounded by her loving family. She was 68 years old. Born in Everett, Penny  worked as a medical secretary in many doctors’ offices. She was the beloved wife of Stephen A. Bova, Jr. ; dear daughter of the late Florence M. (Penny) and Archie J. Bernard; cherished mother of Stephen A. Bova, III and his wife, Jillian of Tewksbury, Robert Bova and his wife, Sandy of Tewksbury, Andrea Bova and Michael Bova of Everett; sister of Jack Bernard of Georgia; devoted grandmother of Joseph and Sofia Bova, Corey, Jesse and Jared Bova, Clark Bova, Isaac Johnson, Alexis Bova, and TJ and Jason Rossetti. Penny is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. As requested, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
