Mayor Carlo DeMaria recently had the privilege of joining over 100 of Everett’s youth, who are attending the City Works Summer Program, at the camp’s annual summer barbecue and art show.
The Mayor spoke to the group about Everett Pride, and about the importance of valuing and respecting ones’ community. He expressed that Everett is a City made up of hard working families, who take care of their homes, properties, and neighborhoods and that they, the next generation of Everett, should keep and honor these values.
The campers, along with Recreation Director, Samuel Amado, presented Mayor DeMaria with a quilt that they made that reads, “Everett is Boston Strong.” The campers designed and created the quilt with assistance from local artist, Eileen Umba- Neuwinger.
“I always enjoy visiting and speaking with our youth,” states Mayor DeMaria, “Our children are truly the future of our City. I would like to thank the City Works Program once again for the amazing quilt. All of the hard work and dedication they put into it makes it very special.”
