With Special Election on Saturday, Wynn Unveils New 3-D Model

Mayor Carlo DeMaria looks over the 3-D model of the proposed casino with Gamal Aziz, Chief
Operating Officer of Wynn Resorts.

With the backdrop of a special election on Saturday,  representatives of Wynn Resorts, including the President and Chief Operating Officer of Wynn Development Gamal Aziz, were on hand last Thursday, June 13 to unveil a new three dimensional model of the proposed resort casino and other improvements they hope to make to the site on lower Broadway, near the Mystic River.

The beautiful 3-D model was impressive in showing the scope and grandeur of the proposed casino development, but more impressive were the planned improvements to the site including a new riverwalk, pier and docking facilities for ferry services, a beautiful new Winter Garden and outside amphitheater situated toward the waterfront.

Also impressive was the high-rise 551 room Wynn hotel that would tower over the entire resort and be instantly visible from downtown Boston.

Aziz, who is in charge of developing and building the proposed resort casino, if the proposal is successful in its bid for the lone eastern Massachusetts gaming license, noted that the proposed casino resort will be an “integrated resort casino” with “high quality amenities” such as shopping, spas, restaurants and other recreational assets.

“We hope to create a destination for tourism,” on the site, explained Aziz, who also noted that the current proposal is a wonderful opportunity for the community to see a formerly industrial site cleaned up and re-purposed for the benefit of the entire community.

Aziz also pointed out that the proposal would create 3,700 new jobs, many of which would be available to Everett residents.

The three dimensional model will be on display at the Everett United offices in city square on Chelsea Street for the foreseeable future and will likely remain so, at least through this weekend’s public vote on the proposal, Saturday, June 22.

Wynn Resorts is funding the ballot question election, as required by the state’s new gaming law. Without a positive outcome in Saturday’s election, the casino resort proposal will not be able to go forward with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

According to City Clerk Michael Matarazzo,  between 35 to 40 percent of eligible voters are predicted to go to the polls.  “This is a very large turnout for a special election,” Matazarro said on Tuesday morning as the Independent was getting ready to go to press. Matazarro reminds voters that their usual polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

  • Please, NO! This is not a move in the right direction for Everett. Gambling and drinking problems are destined to rise in a city that deserves better economic development. Not to mention that area already can't handle the traffic it currently sees. How is it going to manage being a 'tourist' destination?! Please Everett, push for healthier development. It's out there.

    • Lisa you are right, and sadly Wynn and his cohorts will corrupt the politics so badly your community will eventually become their whipping boy. You will be taxes for the infrastructure it takes to support them, taxxed for their resources (water-etlectric-etc) they use in abundance while driving yoru costs up. Your schools will not get funding to find other developements for them leading to a Las Vegas WORST SCHOOLS IN THE NATION RANKING... is this really what people want?

  • What they don't point out is that the Zionist controlled rules of Las Vegas will then become norm in MASS -- part time workers with no bennefits, negative NEGATIVE attitudes as they are paid to treat the guests like garbage that lost gambling and they do not want them to stick around to win it back (called sweating the money)... and eventually your children will all be raised as immoral promoters of filth, that feel the entire world owes them something or a tip. Lets call it what it is - Las Vegas is the most Zionist controlled tourist resort in the world, although they do try and hide behind names of people they send to do their bidding , their entire town is run by Sheldon Adelson, Steve Wynn, Gary Loveman, even their convention centers head Rossi Ralenkater was caught giving public money to Zionist groups. They issue more work visas than any state in the nation, and they pass laws with groups like the SEIU to allow illegals te right to overthrow our system.... no thanks to Vegas BULL !
