City to Complete an Energy Audit with Ameresco

Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. is pleased to report that the City of Everett, through the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), has received access to a contract with Ameresco, a company that specializes in energy audits and facility retrofitting projects, to conduct and energy audit of existing City facilities.

The MAPC provides technical assistance to help communities plan for and launch innovative and financially sustainable projects that reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in the municipal, residential, and commercial sectors. To help communities get lower pricing and better quality of service, MAPC brings communities together to obtain energy-related goods and services.

“This is a great way for the City to both improve and invest in municipal facilities, while at the same time cutting the City’s energy costs and dependency,” states Mayor DeMaria,  “And it is a sound move financially, since the projects are paid for through the energy savings realized by the facility investment.”

The City intends to initiate this project, first by working with Ameresco to complete an energy audit on many of the City’s municipal buildings. The audit will then provide the City with a list of potential projects to complete that will both address desired capital improvements, as well as upgrade to an energy efficient perspective.
