Marjorie Artemicia “Margie” Garrett
Animal Lover, Bingo Player and Avid Reader
Marjorie Artemicia “Margie” Garrett of Saugus, formerly of Everett, passed away early Saturday morning, November 3. She was 77 years old.
It took several firefighters many hours to help Henry Allen and Etta Eleanor Garrett bring their bundle of joy into the world on March 22, 1935 as she was born dead. Margie was prideful of this fact always saying she was determined to come into this world.
She grew up in Everett, the youngest and little “tag along” of her eight siblings, Etta Muriel, Earl Lyons, Eleanor Dorothea, Isabel Rita, Alberta Amelia, Thomas Allen, Florence Patricia and Norma Elaine, all of whom predeceased her. For the majority of her life, Margie worked at Polaroid and drove her little blue Chevy Nova. She prided in herself in only having one job of which she worked at since she was 16 years of age.
Margie was an avid reader, bingo player and a frequent member of the Winthrop Senior Center monthly gatherings, though the past few years less frequently. She grew up an animal lover and her most constant companion was always her cat. Over the years, Margie was mother to Ralph, Elmer, Mandy and most recently, her most precious cat, Gracie, who is currently in the care of a wonderful family.
Margie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Amongst those she leaves behind are Patty, John, Lauryn, John III and Cadence Deluise and Lauryn Hardy of Saugus, Jackie and Joe Dewing of Lynn, Melanie Benson of Dorchester, the late Eddie and Craig Cordwell of Lynn, Eddie, Kathy and Eddie III Sobolewski of Everett, Denyse Sullivan-Blinn of New Hampshire and Stephanie Olson of California and Margie Korb of Alabama, Donna, Joe, Patty, Joey and Beth Clements of Alabama, George, George III and Angelica DeCoste of Florida and Janice, Lance, Ashleigh and Mackenzie Graves of Florida.
