We are in favor of Friday closings at Everett City Hall.
The shortened workweek gives city hall employees an extra day to enjoy their private lives and to do as they please.
It allows the city to save some money on utilities and insurance as well as wear and tear without diminishing the value and the efficiency of city hall functions.
About the only inconvenience is that if a resident or someone needing to use a city hall office on a Friday doesn’t know that it is closed.
Then there is a problem.
However, the city hall closed on Fridays is not an impediment any more than it is in the dozens of cities in the Commonwealth that have chosen to do so.
The world has changed. Everett city government is changing with it.
Nothing is lost by closing city hall on Friday’s.
