Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. and Veteran Services Director, Joe Hickey, are currently in the planning stages for the creation of a Veterans’ Work Program. Under the Valor Act, Everett is permitted to establish such a program that allows local Veterans to provide services to the City in exchange for a reduction in their property tax obligations. The administration and the Veterans Services Office are outlining the structure of the potential program and intend to bring the proposal before both branches of the City Council for their approval in November. The administration and Veterans Services are aiming to launch the program in the coming new year.
