A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Sunday June 3rd, 2012 to commemorate the opening and completion of the Everett’s portion of the Northern Strand Community Trail, also known as the Bike to the Sea Trail. Steve Winslow, the co- founder of Bike to the Sea, and members of this advocacy group have spent over two decades working on the development of a bicycle and pedestrian trail from the Malden area to the beaches of Lynn and Revere. This event also marked 20th Anniversary for Bike to the Sea group and their hard earned efforts. Both a ribbon cutting and award ceremony were held behind the Madeline English School, where Everett city officials accepted an Honorary Captain Award from Bike to the Sea on behalf of Mayor Carlo DeMaria. Thanks to the efforts of both the City of Everett and Bike to the Sea for this amazing asset for city residents to utilize! Please go out and walk or ride the trail for yourself!
