It is fairly incomprehensible that extended discussions have been taking place about replacing the worn and worthless and frankly unsafe bleachers at the Everett Recreation Center.
Last week, City Services Operations Manager Peter Pietrantonio gave the Board of Aldermen an update as to the cost of replacing the unsafe bleacher seating at the popular center.
That amount comes to $7259.94.
What we find a bit strange is that the replacement is of the bleachers is predicted to take until next fall.
The issue can be resolved by the mayor in an instant – and he is apparently ready to do so.
Seating that is safe for about 250 young people and parents is what is at risk until the fall.
With the cost for the replacement a pittance, it should be moved up, the money appropriated immediately and the job done so everyone using the recreation center can be safe, rather than sorry.
