New Bleachers Installed in EHS Stadium

A look at the visitor bleachers at the EHS Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. is happy to announce the installation of the new visitor’s side permanent bleachers is near complete. E & D Specialty Stands of North Collins, NY is putting the final touches this phase of construction to the stadium.  The permanent stands eliminate the need for the city to rent bleachers every season, saving the City the additional yearly expense.

On the opposite side of the stadium, City Services crews are finishing a cleanup and repair of the public bathrooms. New stalls, sinks and a fresh coat of paint to both restrooms were added and all the work done with City Services personnel.  With the season opener coming up soon the stadium is ready to welcome the thousands of fans who flock to the City to watch the defending Greater Boston League and Division I football champs.

Meanwhile, the City recently opened bids for the reconstruction of the front entrance and WWII honor plaza.  Mayor DeMaria and his team are currently reviewing the initial proposals and will begin the selection process.  The Mayor has long advocated for the rehabilitation of the historic front entrance, which is closed to public use due to significant structural deficiencies.  While plans do not call for the entrance to be used as a functioning ticket booth or concession stand, the rehabilitation will allow the public to use the entrance from Revere Beach Parkway.  The soon to be added World War II Roll Call Board will give visitors an added attraction to the City’s actively used field.
