Gertrude Feldman

Peabody resident

Gertrude Feldman, a resident of Peabody for over three years and a resident of Wellesley for many years died on June 17. She was 88 years old.

A homemaker, she was born in New Hampshire and raised in Malden, she attended the Malden schools and was a graduate of Malden High School.

She was the devoted mother of Alan Feldman and his wife, Clovia, Barry Wolfson and his wife, Cheryl, Steven Feldman, Ronnie Larkin, and Gerald Feldman. She was the loving grandmother of nine and is also survived by five great grandchildren.

Services were held at the Montifiore Cemetery, Everett on Sunday June 20. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472.

Malden resident

Barbara A. (Bailey) Brooks of Malden died on June 16. 

She was the beloved wife of the late James Russell Brooks; loving mother of Avis Brooks-Reed of Henderson, NV, Terence Brandon-Brooks of Revere and the Trevis J. Brooks; sister of Norman Bailey of Medford and is also survived by four grandchildren:  Trevis, Kristofor, Latoya and Anthony.

Marie E. “Effie” (LeBlanc) Trahan of Everett died on June 19. She was 92 years old.

A longtime Girl Scout Leader and a recipient of the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award, she was the beloved wife of the late Bill Trahan; loving mother of Yvonne B. Pettengill and her late husband, James, of Everett, Paul E. Trahan and his wife, Evelyn, of Winthrop, Richard W. Trahan of Braintree and Donald F. Trahan and his wife, Anne, of Gaithersburg, MD. She is also survived by eight cherished grandchildren and two cherished great grandchildren.

The beloved wife of the late Lawrence Ricci and the late Roberto Ronga, she was the mother of Louis Ronga and his wife, Debbie, of Reading, Michael Ronga and his wife, Maria, of Pelham, NH, Louise Rumson and her husband, Richard, of Everett, the late Antonetta Scibelli and Robert F. Ronga. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born in Riesi Sicily Italy, she was the beloved wife of the late Calogero; mother of Maria “Fanny” Mirisola and her husband, Salvatore, Benedetta Alabiso and her husband, Giuseppe, Rocco and his wife, Lina, Giosina Mirisola and her husband, Filippo, Salvatore and his wife, Filomena, George and his wife, Joanna, Ottavio and his wife, Mary, Angela D’Amico and her husband, Rino, and the late Giovanna Russo; sister of Giuseppe Ministeri, the late Josie Abate, George Ministeri, Angela Mendolia and Rosa Sessa. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.

Edward V. Troy went kicking and screaming on June 17 at the age of 83.

The founding member and first president of the Everett Tenants Association, he was the loving son of the late John Troy and Laura (Walsh); beloved husband and best friend of the late Anna E. (Saladino); loving father of Stephen Troy and his wife, Miriam, of Reseda, CA, Linda Kadilak and her husband, Daniel, of Beaver Falls, PA, Michael Troy and his wife, Crissy, of Everett, Anna Swain and her husband, Charles, of Saugus, and Marguerite D’Angelo and her husband, Domenico, of Everett; loving brother of Rita Nicholls of Everett, Ann Marie Mulry and her husband, George, of Everett. William Smaldone

Decorated veteran, of Chelmsford, formerly of Everett

William A. Smaldone, a resident of Chelmsford for 41 years, formerly of Everett and East Boston, died June 17 at home. He was 78 years old.

He was the beloved husband of Frances L. (Galinis) with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage. He was born in East Boston, son of the late John C. and Mildred (Moccia) Smaldone. He graduated from East Boston High School in 1949 and attended classes at Lowell University. He served in Korea during the Korean War and received a Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant and Service Ribbon with Bronze Star and attained the rank of Staff Sgt. Prior to retirement he was employed by McGraw Edison and Cooper Power Systems in Marketing and Sales for over 47 years. During retirement he volunteered at the Chelmsford Police Dept., Community Team Work, and the Nashoba Valley Technical High School.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and one daughter. William F. and Christine of Westborough, Kenneth and Janet of Exeter, NH, David of Needham, and Patricia of Portland, OR; one brother, John and his wife, Sylvia Smaldone, of Chelmsford; four grandchildren, Colton and Annie Smaldone of Exeter, NH, Nicholas Smaldone and Trey Howes of Westborough and several nieces and nephews.

The longtime owner of Medford Square Sporting Goods, he was the beloved husband of Camille (Pizzano); loving father of Stephen Lucci of Medford, Patricia Bagarella and her late husband, Ronald, of Everett and Debra Ryan and her husband, Richard, of Medford; loving brother of Florence Ciardello of Everett and the late Robert and Ralph Lucci and Eleanor Joyce. He is survived by his three loving grandchildren, April Obremski, Christie Pace and Matthew Ryan; two loving great grandchildren, Jason and Jaxon Pace, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A US Marine Corps veteran, he served in the Pacific during World War II and was a member of the DAV and VFW.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Milano); loving father of Kenneth Indorato of Chelmsford and Gina Indorato of Ormond Beach, FL.; cherished grandfather of Justine Pelham of New York City NY and James Pelham of Medford; beloved brother of Josephine Redford and her husband, Alex, of Saugus and the late Salvatore, Phillip, and Joseph Indorato. He will be sadly missed by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Lillian Eva (Trentini) Lach, a resident of Danvers for more than 25 years, formerly of Everett, died at home on June 15. She was 68 years old.

Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Conchetta (Golini) Trentini. She was raised and educated in Everett and had been employed as a Vice President of Marketing in the banking industry, most recently with the Beverly Cooperative Bank.

She truly loved traveling and ballroom dancing and was a former member of the “Bay Staters.” She was a loving and outgoing person by nature and will be deeply missed.

She was the beloved wife of William T. Lach; daughter of the late Joseph and Conchetta (Golini) Trentini. In addition to her loving husband of 12 years, she is survived by her dear sister, Janet Cocco and her husband, Edmund, of Lynnfield, her devoted brother, Ronald Trentini and his wife, Donna, of Salem, N.H. and many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, extended family and friends.

Phyllis (Piccolo) Proia, a longtime resident of Chelsea, died unexpectedly at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on June 10. She was 87 years old.

Born in Boston, she was a hairdresser at the Anna T. Kelly Salon on Broadway in Everett for more than 30 years.

She was the devoted wife of the late Albert Proia, Sr.; beloved mother of Paula Ribinson and her husband, Terry, of Chelsea, Karen Tyler and her husband, Eugene, of Chelsea, Albert Proia, Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Maine, Paul Proia and his wife, Carol, of Brockton and Lawrence Proia and his wife, Donna, of Natick; dear sister of the late Santa Piccolo, Mary Piccolo, Frank Piccolo, Anthony Piccolo, Jennie Tyler and Dominic Piccolo. Rose Anna Giordano, a lifelong resident of Everett, died at home on June 14. She was 90 years old.

Born in Everett, she was a graduate of Burdett Business School and worked as a packer of greeting cards for the former Metropolitan Lithograph in Everett.

She was the beloved and devoted sister of Rita Porcaro of Medford and the late Mary Giordano and Benjamin Giordana and his surviving wife, Anna, of Everett. She was the loving aunt of Marie Elaine Dwyer and her late husband, William, of Wakefield, Nicholas Giordano and his wife, Ella, of Melrose and Anthony Victor Giordano and his wife, Cathy, of North Reading and is also survived by several loving grand nieces and grand nephews.
