Kernan takes first vs. Cambridge

Maeve Kernan earned the lone first place finish for the Everett High girls indoor track team in last week’s meet with Cambridge. The freshman was the first across the finish line in the two mile run in a time of 14:00.

Katie Steeves grabbed second place in the 300 dash in 50.0, as did Cristian Faia in the high jump with a leap of 4-2 and Delmis Urquiza in the 1000 in 3:54.2. Delmis put on a strong kick in the final lap, but just fell short in her bid for a first place finish.

Lady Crimson Tide who placed one point into the Everett scorebook with their third place efforts were Darryl Colson with a toss of 23-7 in the shotput; Jessica Mangan in the mile in 7:04.3; and Randi Doherty in the hurdles in 10.2.

At the State Relays held Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track Center, the quartet of Vanessa Tejada, Angele Louis-Jean, Kernan, and Urquiza competed in the 4 x 800 event and finished in a time of 11:45.24.

The girls will travel to Somerville this evening (Wednesday) and will host Lynn Classical Monday.
