Margaret Ross

Malden resident

Margaret E. (Keniston) Ross of Malden died on December 10. She was 101 years old.

A member of the Maplewood Catholic Daughters and the Secular Order of Franciscans at St. Anthony’s Shrine, she was the devoted wife for 54 years to the late George W. Ross; beloved mother of Barbara Stefanilo and her husband, Red, of Malden, George Ross and his wife, Clarice, of Wilmington, William Ross and his wife, Doris, of Wilmington and Mary D’Alleva and her husband, Louis, of Everett; dear sister of the late Joseph Keniston, Mae Higgins, Lillian Fyfe, Helen Murphy and Dorothy Keniston; cherished grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 27 and great great grandmother of three and is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews

Funeral arrangements were by the Carroll Funeral Home, Malden. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.

 

Davinder Kumar

Worked at India Groceries

Davinder Kumar of Malden died on December 6.

A clerk in the family business, India Groceries, Main Street, Malden, he was the beloved father of Vipan Punj and Rajan Punj of Malden; dear brother of Rajinder Punj of Malden and is also survived by four loving grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

Angelina Avallone, 97

Electronic Corporation of America retiree

Angelina H. (Bruno) Avallone of Revere died on December 1 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. She was 97 years old.

Mrs. Avallone was born on July 13, 1912 in the Bronx, NY. She was educated there and lived there until 1945 when she married John A. Avallone and came to live in Revere. Mr. Avallone died in 1976.

During World War II, she worked for the war effort in New Jersey as did many women of that time. She retired from the Electronic Corporation of America of Cambridge after 35 years of service as an assembler. Mrs. Avallone was a longtime active member of the former St. Theresa’s Parish of Revere and recently of St. Anthony’s Parish.

She was the beloved mother of John A. Avallone Jr. of Revere and Edwina F. LaBrecque of Peabody; cherished grandmother of Sean L. LaBrecque of Las Vegas, NV and the late John A. Avallone III. She is also lovingly survived by her friend and daughter-in-law, Elaine Avallone of Revere, her great grandchildren, Thomas and Nicole Keefe and their mother, Colleen Keefe, all of Everett, and her longtime canine companion “Buddy.”

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Porcella Funeral Home (Beachmont) Revere. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

 

Ralph ‘Ralphy’ Lind

Plymouth resident

Ralph E. “Ralphy” Lind of Plymouth, formerly of Bridgewater, died on December 7 after a short illness.

He was the beloved husband of Joanie Durante-Lind; loving stepfather of Maguire Wiswall and leaves behind many loving family members and friends.

Margaret Sullivan

Cambridge resident

Margaret M. “Peg” (O’Neill) Sullivan of Cambridge died on December 7.

She was a member Sacred Heart Parish Ladies Sodality, Past President of the Matignon Mother’s Guild and a former Cub Scout Den Mother in Belmont.

The beloved wife of the late Mortimer J. Sullivan, she was the devoted mother of Paul J. and Terry of Medway, Mary P. and John Brennan of Maynard, Daniel M. of Cambridge, John F. and Priscilla of Lynnfield, Ellen and Todd Kopp of Newburyport, Mortimer S. and Sabin of Waltham, Peggy A. and Taylor Eighmy of Texas and Richard A. Sullivan of Everett; sister of Mary Daly of Ireland; sister-in-law of Nuala O’Neill of Ireland and is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Stanton Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial was in Cambridge Cemetery. Eleanor Yancovitz

Retired Secretary

Eleanor (Souza) Yancovitz died on December 8 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital after a period of failing health. She was 94 years old.

A retired secretary, she was born in Revere and was a Saugus resident for many years.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Souza; loving mother of Robert Arinello and his wife, Jutta, of Salem, NH, and Vincent Arinello and his wife, Maureen, of Nashua, NH. She is also survived by three cherished grandchildren and seven cherished great grandchildren.

James Semonelli

Of Malden, formerly of Everett

James A. Semonelli of Malden died on December 7.

A 1958 graduate of Everett High School, he graduated from Wentworth College in 1960 with an Engineering Degree.

He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Breault) Semonelli and he also leaves his loving sister-in-law, Marion DiSciullo, and nephews, Roger DiSciullo and his wife, Isaura, and William and Michael DiSciullo as well as his cousin Peggy Riley.

Michael Bonacorso

Stoneham resident

Michael H. Bonacorso of Stoneham died on December 6. He was 86 years old.

A US Navy veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Bordinaro) Bonacorso; devoted father of Michael H. Bonacorso, Jr. of Salem, Annette M. Bonacorso of Stoneham and John J. Bonacorso and his wife, Domenica, of Winchester; loving son of the late Eugenia and MIchael Bonacorso; cherished grandfather of Michael J. and his wife, Sandra, Jenna, Alexis, Kristina, John James Jr., Amanda, Ariana Bonacorso and the late Marissa McGovern and great grandfather of Sophia.

Dorothy Jewkes

Long Time Registered Nurse

Dorothy M. Jewkes of Malden died on December 10 after a long illness. She was 87 years old.

A retired longtime registered nurse, she was a 1944 graduate of Boston City Hospital and worked for the Massachusetts General Hospital later in her career.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Benjamin and Lucy (Fitzpatrick) Jewkes and was the loving sister of two late sisters and one late brother; loving aunt of Jane Cook of Beverly, Priscilla Thain of Madison, WI, Natalie and Cynthia Needle of Swampscott, Helen Muzerall of Seabrook, NH, Lucy Lyons of Connecticut and Benjamin Jewkes of New Hampshire. She is also survived by 10 dear great nieces and nephews, and two dear great grandnephews.

Mary E. (Gulla) Mustone of Malden, formerly of the North End, died on December 6.

A longtime supervisor for Schraffts Candy Company, she was the beloved wife of the late Domenic; the mother of Marilyn Kierstead of Virginia, Ron of Bradford, Roy of Pembroke, Joan Vetrano of Virginia, Janice of Providence, Donna Nicholson of Everett, Patricia Labriola of Peabody, Theresa Mann of Malden, and Loretta Coffman of Virginia, sister of Frank Gulla of Florida, Jimmy Gulla of Tennessee, Teresa Liberato of Revere, Josephine Renda of Peabody and the late John, Leo and Billy Gulla. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
