Man arraigned for murder of Everett woman

A 38-year-old Somerville man was arraigned in Malden District Court on Tuesday morning for the stabbing death of Sheila Santos.

The 26-year-old exotic dancer was allegedly stabbed 33 times by Antonio Marcos Ferreira, who dumped her body on the back stairs of the Everett apartment house she was living in at 154 Main Street.

He is being held without bail.

He was arrested last Friday by Everett police in Charlestown after a weeklong manhunt.

According to police, when he was arrested, he was in possession of his Brazilian passport and his packed bags were inside his car.

According to Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone, the victim had dated Ferreira in the past but had broken off their relationship.

However, Ferreira apparently wanted to resume the relationship but Santos spurned his new advances.

Santos was found dead in the early morning hours of October 2.

She had worked as a dancer at Club Alex’s in Stoughton. She had previously worked as a dancer at King Arthur’s in the Produce District on the Chelsea-Everett line.
